Iyengar Style Masala Toast

Iyengar Style Masala Toast is a yummy tasty dish from Iyengar bakery streets of Bengaluru in Karnataka. The waft of these crispy sandwiches is sure to induce your little one's appetite. The addition of vegetables adds to the flavour and makes it a healthy snack.

Ingredients to make Iyengar Style Masala Toast:

Crusty bread log, 1 tablespoon ghee, ½ cup carrots chopped, ½ cup cabbage chopped, 1 onion chopped, 1 tomato chopped, 1 small piece of ginger, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 green chili, 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), 1 teaspoon garam masala powder, salt to taste

Steps to make Iyengar Style Masala Toast:

1. Heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds and allow it to sputter. Add green chiles and sauté it in oil

2. Add chopped onions and sauté in oil till translucent. Add ginger, chopped tomatoes, carrot, and cabbage and stir- fry all the veggies.

3. Add garam masala and mix well.

Preparing the bread:

1. Heat a pan and add 1 tablespoon ghee or butter.

2. Place the slices of bread on the tawa and toast well on both sides.

3. Switch off and transfer the toasted bread to serving plate .

4. Add 1 or 2 teaspoons of the filling on the toasted bread.

Serve hot. You can pack it for your kid’s snack box as well
